LinkedIn Share Button Now On More Than 100,000 Websites

.

Now that the leading B2B social network, LinkedIn is a publicly held company, we're able to acquire a little bit more information around the workings of the service. In its earnings announcement this week, LinkedIn revealed that its share button, the tool that helps websites make it easier for their visitors to share content on LinkedIn, is now being used on more than 100,000 websites. TechCrunch is reporting that LinkedIn now sends more traffic to the TechCrunch site than Twitter. This isn't the case for HubSpot.com...yet.

LinkedIn also reported increases in traffic likely helped by its IPO and the success of its new information recommendation service, LinkedIn Today.

Sharing Is for B2B Too

LinkedIn can be a major source of traffic and leads for your business, so don't limit your social sharing to just Facebook and Twitter. Make sure to include the LinkedIn share button on your blog or website to encourage others to share your content. If you're using HubSpot's blogging software, you can turn this button on with a simple check box in your blog's options menu.

Examine your web analytics software to view the traffic and leads coming from different social sources. Remember that social media should help drive revenue for your business. If a source like LinkedIn is driving less traffic but more leads than another social media source like Twitter, then you might want to shift your strategy to encourage more LinkedIn content sharing.

Marketing Takeaway

Data is your friend. Social media is much more than how many fans and followers you have. Use the data the social web provides to make better choices about your marketing strategy. LinkedIn is growing and continues to be a powerful opportunity for B2B companies.

Do you use the LinkedIn Share Button? How has it impacted your traffic from LinkedIn?
