One of the most powerful roles content can play in inbound marketing is in search engine optimization. Great infographic. I'm a little confused as to what "50% of marketers cite 'WEB PAGES' as 'very effective for SEO'" means... are they trying to imply that having a web site is effective SEO? Or that adding new pages to an existing site is good SEO? A little confusing!

Not sure how anyone couldn't agree that content is critical for SEO. Without content there's nothing for the search engines to find...

Of course it's not as simple as merely creating content. It needs to be optimized for people and search engines along with being shared on social networks and discussed.

As for quality that's in the eye of the beholder. I don't read "basic marketing" posts anymore as I've been doing marketing for a bit, but people new to marketing might love them. Quality is subjective based on one's frame of reference.

I am not sure when "content is king" became something new in SEO. This has always been the Google message and although we now have social signals + panda etc, it still isn't true in every case. What type of content are we discussing (product, non product etc etc), what industries, how does content help SEO, that's never discussed in these articles. Sticking up 100 posts about car insurance doesn't mean a site site is going to rank for car insurance. It's too easy to say content is king in terms of SEO, unfortunately it's not that simple.

Google's algorithm is getting smarter and the results customers want must be valuable. Social media and the way we receive and process information is changing. We don't have time to read pages and pages of information. Therefore Content is King and companies need to ensure they pick the right words in their pages for optimal results.

Are we all still talking about text here. Content could be defined by several things including graphics with proper id tags, tags on specific written content but most recently ignored is video. Google did buy a little company called You Tube, right?
