Okay, raise your hand if you're a fan of gapingvoid. Hands down.
Now raise your hand if you have absolutely no idea what gapingvoid is. Okay, cool. Here's an explanation: Gapingvoid is a website created by Hugh MacLeod, who creates cartoons around 'social objects,' which Hugh believes are the "hard currency of the internet." In his words, "social objects are the reason two people talk to each other, as opposed to talking to somebody else...That reason, that “node” in the social network, is the social object." So basically, gapingvoid makes these awesome social objects in the form of cartoons.
What's even cooler about gapingvoid is its stance on marketing. According to its website, gapingvoid believes that "Traditional advertising doesn’t work very well. Sure, it tries, and tries hard, but most of the time, it fails." Our thoughts exactly!
Now that we're all caught up, let's take a look at gapingvoid's take on inbound marketing via the following 6 social objects.
Takeaway: Traditional, outbound marketing tactics fail today. Let's face it: Did they ever really work?
Takeaway: Even the dinosaurs understand and are grateful for the effect the internet has had on marketing. Don't be dumber than a dinosaur. Understand how to effectively leverage inbound marketing.
Takeaway: Traditional outbound marketing will never again be effective because the internet has changed the media forever. Don't waste your time waiting for a time when outbound marketing will become the norm again.
Takeaway: Because media has forever changed, businesses must transform their marketing to leverage new marketing tactics that appeal to modern consumers' shopping behavior.
Takeaway: These "new marketing tactics" are inbound marketing tactics. Don't end up as confused as this clueless character, and start learning and leveraging inbound marketing today!
Takeaway: As a result of going inbound, you'll be making your marketing the type of marketing that people love. Now isn't that nice?
Are you taking advantage of all that inbound marketing has to offer your business?

Hugh Rocks. I do find it odd that you put a takeaway below each of Hugh's artworks. They need no explanation. That's the genius of what he does. They are so smart, yet simple, they stand on their own.

It took me a long time to fully understand the concept of inbound marketing and it's cimponents: SEO, social and content marketing. And if I'm not mistaken, it was Hubspot who originally coined the term. Completely radical concept. It's forever changed the way we market.

The most frustrating thing about inbound marketing are the people (and by people, I mean clients)who seem to understand the idea, until it's time to get started, then they're too scared to abandon their dusty old methods.

Slowly I am transitioning to the implementation of inbound marketing in our business. A major challenge is how to get started. Here is here Hubspot is a blessing!

Some businesses fit the inbound model easily, others need to work harder to. Push still has a place within certain segments, now it's just a component of the larger strategy. For example if Apple didn't make people aware of, and interested in tablets, their would be no search for them.

THANK YOU HUBSPOT!!! And I like the takeaway's. Believe it or not, some people STILL don't get it, even if you bash them over the head with explanations, so I think these are quite affective :)
