I really don't understand why paid search (PPC) is not considered inbound marketing. Wikipedia defines inbound marketing as "a marketing strategy that focuses on getting found by customers". In our view, a paid search ad is directly related to a search query and therefore qualifies PPC as an inbound channel.

Our agency runs both inbound and outbound marketing campaigns. Both are an important part of the marketing mix.

I can attest that paid search (PPC), when done correctly, generates the best value for your online marketing dollar. PPC has the highest conversion rates outside of email and generates immediate traffic. Keep your quality score high and you can easily mitigate against click cost inflation.

In short, please don't dismiss PPC as an effective channel. When combined and aligned with SEO and Social and Email it can round out a powerful ROI positive marketing mix.
