At HubSpot, we love to provide free tools to the marketing community.  This Internet Marketing Blog is free, and read by thousands of marketers like you (thanks!).  We also built Website Grader, a free SEO tool, and that has been used to evaluate well over 300,000 different websites.

Now it's time to try something else new, and we want your help.  We're launching a new tool called Press Release Grader, which analyzes your press release and provides some ideas on how to improve it.

We'd appreciate it if you went to www.PressReleaseGrader.com and evaluated a couple press releases.  We appreciate all feedback and look forward to improving the tool based on your input - so let us know what you love about it and also what you hate about it!  You can either use the feedback link on the report, or just leave a comment on this blog article.

Here is a video overview of Press Release Grader:

This appears to be a wonderful tool. Can press release grader be used for blogs as well? Or is this tool created primarily for companies releasing press releases?

@Bryan P. - It really is meant for a press release and has some specific functionality built for press releases. You can try it with blogposts if you want, but some parts fo the report won't make sense.

VERY cool tool. I Love it! Just a couple of things to note. I tried to submit comments by following the "love it or hate it" link but when I completed the form I got a fatal error message from your website. (Fatal error: Call to undefined function writeLog() in /var/www/pressreleasegrader.hubteam/htdocs/inc/createlead.php on line 34)
One other note - the score did not appear when I printed the report.
Thanks for this great tool - will use it often!

HubSpot does it again! Thanks for being so diligent and coming out with such great tools.

@Stephanie - Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I think the feedback on Press Release Grader is broken. We'll get it fixed. Also, the report printing thing is weird and we'll try to figure that out too. Thanks!!!

I think it's a FANTABULOUS tool. The only thing was it did not recognize my 'About' section, until I underlined it and had it regraded. Apart from that, I will not think about sending another press release again UNTIL I have it graded by Press Release Grader.
Thanks for the tool:)

This new tool is awesome! I wish it would have been available a few years ago! It is so helpful. I will use it for every press release I write in the future. Thank you!

Thanks for the tool, but it's not clear how you come up with the score - i.e., what aspects of the PR you're looking at. May be a doc explaining this?

I think the tool is great for checking a regular press release. But don't you think with PR 2.0 Newsrooms there are much more components besides the written content that will feature highly in whether a press release is a success or not? If you follow my link through my username below I have blogged about how to make a Web site a haven for journalists. Journalists need to disseminate all types of content and as the Web is so feature rich with different media, I feel more is required than the PR tool supplied here.

Tis is a great tool, easy to use and the data is very comprehensive. I've started using it already and won't hesitate to recommend it to others.

A+ again to the folks at HubSpot. A lot of great tools within this one. Could you add a Digg count like on website grader. Read my review of Press Release Grader.
