Can't Touch These Tips: Wise Marketing Words from MC Hammer

.

Last Friday, we had the privilege of having MC Hammer as a surprise guest on HubSpot TV. Along with being an MC, a dancer and a Twitter celebrity with over 120 thousand followers, he's also an inbound marketing and social media guru.

Here are four great tips he offered on the show:

1) Social media is no more than an extension of what we do naturally.

2) Use the Internet to shorten the distance betwen you and your consumers.

3) Forget the number. Just stay interesting!

4) Even during a recession, don't stop dreaming. Opportunity lies in tough times.

What do you think? Do you think he's right? Any other advice you would offer marketers engaging in social media?

Thank you so much to MC Hammer for making the trip to our offices and offering such great tips!

Stop...comment time.

I love how MC Hammer has embraced social media and is doing it right. The fact that he saw and reacted to the invite to come to your offices and was so willing to be on your show and share these simple, yet important tips, is amazing.

He is too legit to quit!

P.S. I used to have MC Hammer pants in high school - I thought I was soooo cool.

That dude "gets it" more than most of the self proclaimed social media experts out there.

Impressive, and he's so right, esp. about opportunities. There are opportunities everywhere, even during a recession. He's showing it with his Twitter feed. I'm going to go follow him right now! Posting a link to this on my Twitter feed. I'm @family_finances.

This is still kinda surreal to me. I can't believe I wasn't in that day.

Also, I've never seen the two of you so intently quiet, attentive and smiling.

I agree with Hammer 100%. He made an excellent point how social media or networking isn't scientific but is natural for us to communicate-its just now on a different platform.

I agree, this is a time to be creative-don't let opportunity pass you by.

MC was very inspirational and is keeping me motivated!

He made some great points about what social media is all about, how to use it, and why it is important.

Thanks for sharing.

My hats off to MC for all these wonderful tips. I definitely have to agree about just focusing on becoming interesting and giving your potential customers on what you want. And if I may add, you need to come up with a lead management process, so it’s easier for you to take care of your potential customers.

Great insight and I love the creativity and out of the box approach to bringing in MC Hammer. With the economy tight, the customer is in charge. Businesses have to meet customers on a level that makes them feel engaged. Walter Pinson speaks on this in his blog Hyundai schools us on Relationship Marketing

MC Hammer is 100% correct except for one point. It's not "even" in a Recession, a Recession is THE BEST TIME to be creative. In some industries it is the ONLY time you can get creative.

More opportunities occur in a Recessionary period in my opinion, for this reason. When times are good people are too busy to BE creative.

I also love how people lose thier heads in economic down times. Makes it that much eaisier to steal thier cheese...
