10 Technology-Company Blogs to Model Your Blog After

By now, most marketers and small business owners understand the kind of impact blogging can have on businesses.

They understand that blogging helps with SEO. They understand that it helps build traction on social networks. And they understand that it's a way to build a community around their business.

There's usually just one thing they're unsure of: Whether blogging is right for their industry.

Over the next few weeks we're going to address some of these concerns with a series of posts highlighting top business blogs in different industries.

Today we're starting with this list of top technology-company blogs:

technology blogs

This list was generated by Blog Grader, a free Grader service from HubSpot. Blog Grader measures the marketing effectiveness of blogs by considering inbound links, Technorati rank, Google Page rank, social media mentions and other factors, then calculating a percentile score for each blog.

The blogs on this list received the highest percentile score for blogs we track in the technology industry.

If you're in the technology industry, check out these blogs. See what they write about, how they structure their posts, and how often they publish. They're all great models.

One final note: Do you think there's a blog that should be included on this list? Do you know of blogs that we should consider for lists of top blogs in other industries? Please add them here.

I think MailChimp's Blog should be on the list as well:

I'd like to email this story to a colleague of mine. Unfortunately the only way I can share the story are through networking type sites.

Where is the option to email this article?

Fantastic list. I have reviewed some of the blogs and already have picked up ways to improve my blog.

Thanks for this info

Nice. Can't wait till you get to the banking industry. And for this post, can you also include the industry that sells services to banks and not just blogs that banks have for their customers.

Kip, any particular banking blogs you think we should definitely be tracking (other than yours b/c we have that one)?

What is HubSpots blog grade? Is there a blog grader in the HubSpot product?

Thanks for the list! Can't wait till you get to the biotech sector. Hint-hint. Is there a way I can generate such a list myself?

This is great info, but I'd like to see blogs in the health care/insurance industries that we could model after.

Unless, of course, there is some common factor that makes blogs great.

I'd also like to see a more detailed breakdown on what makes blogs so awesome.

Peter, Sam, Thanks for the notes. I've included both of your blogs in the healthcare list, which we'll be publishing soon. Any other healthcare company blogs you'd suggest grading?

There seem to be huge differences between your grade for a site and its Technorati rank. Since you consider Technorati rank in the grade, what causes such big differences?

Terrific info as usual. You guys never disappoint.

I find it interesting the Sun is #1, but I suppose they have so much authority that it would be hard for them to not rank high.

Great idea to rate/grade a blog but why can't my company blog get graded using your tool? It did before and I was using the stats as an ongoing comparison, but no longer... very frustrating.
