That's definitely a great comic, but the truth is that Google has already started crawling flash content. To which extent I'm not sure, but its getting better as time goes by.
I laughed a bit on this very very clear messaging for SEO.

You guys do great things...but not enough here to say that is an absolute truth...The engines look at flash not as they once did...

Rumor has it Google could have some significant changes to how they see flash sites come the new year.
I've got a flash site I love (and get compliments on every day) but my SEO guy moans everyday for me to go html. I'll wait to see what Jan 1 brings.

Great comic guys!
Yes, the larger search engines may be indexing flash now, and may do so even more effectively in future - but a flash site will never be on par, let alone have an advantage, versus a website with multiple pages and lots of easily crawled content.
If you have a great looking flash site, keep it - but build a html version and grow the site with fresh content over time if you ever want to truly compete.

I have a question that has to do with search – I always hear about Google and how important it is to follow Webmaster tools and so on. Now that Bing is becoming more popular do they have a set of rules that people should pay attention to in order to improve Bing search ranking? I would think somethings would be different because you don’t get the same search results.
Do you address this in any of your literature?
Thanks.

Flash content is difficult to decipher and crawl rather than pure text based xhtml/css content. If your site uses Flash, then you need to think about also providing a non-flash xhtml/css version.

This is so funny. I just had this conversation with someone yesterday. I will have to forward this on to them so they can connect the idea with the cartoon. Cool and thanks!

hahaha, Thanks for sharing this funny yet insightful message. The message us quite clearly projected here.
Flash can just get you the looks but still there are a lot of things which a site needs to me become search engine friendly and user friendly as well, as the time spent on a site would also be considered in rankings this is another important expect of it because if the site takes long time load people usually close it.

Not only too flashy, the blue suit hurts my eyes!

Nice comic there
.
Even though there are news that Google are getting better at crawling flash, I still have my reserves on how good will they be and also how much value will they place on links/content in the flash.
