Dear New York Times, WTF Are You Thinking?
If you’re a user of the New York Times iPad app, prepare to be annoyed. The Times is selling “innovative” ad takeovers where video pops up and begins playing automatically, Mashable reports. In a statement that reflects either a) wishful thinking; b) greed-and-despair-induced delusion; or c) plain old early dementia, the Times exec in charge of advertising said he doesn’t think people will be annoyed by these ads that just pop up and automatically start playing while you’re trying to read an article. “We’re confident readers will find this beautiful and well done,” he says.
