YouTube is celebrating its 10th birthday, and its recognizing the top ads of the past decade -- the ones that made people actually want to watch ads.
After a few weeks of user voting, the video network has released its top five list, which highlights the brands and agencies that challenged the traditional video format with interactive elements and epic storytelling. In total, these five ads have been viewed more than 403 million times.

1) Kobe vs. Messi: The Selfie Shootout
Kobe Bryant and Lionel Messi battled it out in this ad for Turkish Airlines, winning the top spot on YouTube's list.
2) The Force
Deutsch LA created this piece for the Super Bowl and released it prior to the game, which was a rarity in 2011. The ad was viewed 17 million times prior to kickoff and is one of the most-shared ads of all time.
This ad from Always made us question what it means to do things "like a girl," and it was shortened and re-launched for this year's Super Bowl after the ad garnered more than 80 million views.
4) The Epic Split
Forsman & Bodenfors created this memorable piece that won the Film Grand Prix and Cyber Grand Prix at the 2014 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
5) Real Beauty Sketches
Dove's "Real Beauty" campaign was launched more than 10 years ago, but it continues to challenge beauty standards.
