In early June, HubSpot will be releasing a brand new social media monitoring application to all customers (that means you!). This monitoring application is the realization of a long-standing vision that HubSpot co-founder Dharmesh Shah has had for helping marketers elevate the people that matter most to their business. The addition of monitoring to HubSpot will also usher in a rebranding of HubSpot’s suit of social tools as Social Inbox. While this app rolls out in June to all customers, individuals interested in getting early access can request it here.

What is Social Inbox?

Social Inbox tightly integrates social media monitoring and publishing with HubSpot’s contact database, enabling marketers to get highly segmented views of the social activity of their leads, customers and biggest evangelists. Many of the challenges with social media monitoring stem from having to sift through a fire-hose of strangers. Without any context, you have no idea who to prioritize and how to address them. This wastes time and results in impersonal, disconnected interactions that don't do much for your business.

Social Inbox aims to turn down the fire hose by enabling you to create highly targeted segments of leads and customers. This integration lets you to alert a sales rep when a high-scoring lead mentions a competitor or turn a one-time social interaction with a customer into a series of follow up emails. This video explains the vision behind social inbox and a bit of how it works.

When will I get it?

Social Inbox will be rolling out to all customers in early June. You’ll log into your account and see the new tool set. We’re introducing now to give you a heads up ahead of time. We hope to give you time, training and materials to get to know the app and think about how they'll set up your first monitoring streams. Social inbox will be covered in the Academy Social Media Class and a set of videos and materials will be available before the roll-out. If you are really excited and want Social Inbox early, you can request early access here.

How should I use it?

When you first get into Social Inbox, there will be a set of monitoring recipes set up that you can try. We encourage you to try to create streams and alerts to monitor leads and customers.

Will there be training on it?

Yes! Our Inbound Professor Rachel Goodman will be running an academy class on social media and the social inbox. You can see upcoming classes at

Will you bring over my existing social media prospects search?

Social Inbox is a far more thorough and powerful monitoring app, so it will be replacing the legacy social prospects app eventually. However, you'll be able to access your social prospects legacy app through a link in the sidebar during the transition. We will not be bringing your existing searches over however. We found in talking with beta users that most people set up their social prospects searches long ago and wanted the opportunity to start fresh rather than clutter their stream with outdated searches and keywords. The good news is, setting up a search takes a matter of seconds and there are recipes to get you started with one click.

Does it monitor Facebook, Linkedin, etc?

Right now Social Inbox monitors Twitter, the fastest moving social channel out there. We plan on adding Facebook monitoring in next. That’s all for now. We’ll be keeping you posted heading into the release. Again, if you’re interested in getting access to social inbox early, you can request early access here.
