Imagine you received the following email from a prospect:

"I'd love to see a finalized proposal by EOM. TYT. NRN."

Um ... what? Would you even know where to begin? I certainly wouldn't.

Some internet abbreviations are so commonplace they're practically in the dictionary. Think LOL ("laugh out loud"), OMG ("oh my god"), or WTF (well ... you know). However, less common abbreviations can mystify email or instant message recipients.

A few acronyms are even making their way into work parlance. To combat abbreviation agitation, we've put together a guide to the 20 most common email acronyms.

Want to translate the email above? Check out the SlideShare below to get the plain English definitions for "EOM," "TYT," "NRN," and more potentially bewildering abbrevs (sorry, I couldn't help it).
