It's the end of an era for Mad Men fans. The final half season, aptly titled "The End of An Era," kicks off on Sunday.

In just a few short weeks, we'll know what happens to Don and the rest of the Sterling Cooper crew. Will the troubled ad man finally find happiness? Or will a terrible fate wrought by past mistakes befall him? The anticipation is tangible among those who've been with the show since its premiere.

Despite Don's personal failings, he has proven himself a phenomenal creative director time and again. Although you'd be wise to lay off the Canadian Club at the office, sales and marketing professionals can learn a lot from Don's work. His fictional portfolio is chock full of pitches and promotions that evoke strong emotion, empathize with buyers, and stand out from the crowd.

Although the mediums salespeople work with might have changed a bit, Don's lessons still ring true. Cirrus Media has identified five snippets of Mad Men wisdom that can easily be applied to the age of social media. If Sterling Cooper existed today, Don would surely keep these rules in mind when typing up LinkedIn posts and tweets.
