As extreme inbound marketing advocates, we love when we see businesses drink the inbound marketing Kool-Aid, eat the inbound marketing dog food, sip the inbound marketing champagne, or just, you know -- adopt the inbound marketing methodology. And we love it even more when they evangelize it, as HubSpot Partner The Whole Brain Group has recently done with its new infographic featured below.
So if you're just catching on to the concept of inbound marketing and are looking for a super simple explanation of how it compares to a more traditional marketing strategy -- and how a really effective inbound marketing strategy works -- take a few minutes to check out The Whole Brain Group's rundown.

If inbound marketing were enough, HS wouldn't need the 70 sales people it has to close deals. Nor would the company have to spend money on pay per click advertising.
It wouldn't continue to hire public relations people and other people to work with analysts if inbound marketing were enough.
Marketing automation like customer relationship management software are two pieces to a larger customer acquisition strategy.
Inbound marketing is blogging writing white papers, creating email campaigns and landing pages constantly.
It would have been a lot less expensive just to outsource telemarketing than to engage in inbound marketing and the results from outsourcing telemarketing may have been better.

I haven't benn an enthusiast of inbound marketing before because for me it was just a traditional (analogue) way to be honest with your clients. This infographic and tacic is surprisingly creative! Thanks for that

This is addressed to Dan, commenting above. Dan, I really think you've hit a different nail on the head than you intended. Quite simply, marketing is NOT sales, and if you expect it to be then you'll be disappointed. The point of inbound marketing isn't to close deals -- it's to capture leads and then drive the qualified leads to your sales team to close.

I have to go with david, there are quite some differences with marketing ans sales.marketing is more like getting the public aware of your products or services while sale is the end result of marketing.

Great work, number 5 is the most important part of the process, though this is missed by a lot of businesses.

I think it is important for all businesses to realize that a solid inbound marketing strategy requires many different wheels spinning at the same time. Each ingredient alone is great if you only have the resource to execute one at a time but collectively is when you see the real power.

Love this infographic. Many companies spend too much time "getting found" on Google and forget to implement relevant landing pages and calls to action to convert their visitors into leads.
