Search consultants are often asked the question: “How can you really do SEO if Google is always changing the algorithm?”

It is true that Google is frequently changing their search algorithms. However, most of the changes are minor. Historically, Google has made major algorithm updates several times a year. When it happens, there is usually a lot of buzz in the industry and many webmasters notice significant shifts in ranking.

In this video, Travis talks about some SEO best practices to avoid significant shifts in your rankings when major updates occur, and how you can keep up with such algorithm changes.

What can you do in order to stop worrying about Google algorithm changes:

  • Continually create quality content and optimize it in a way that is "clean" and makes sense to the reader.
  • Start with the basics by creating a site that is well organized and has a well-thought out internal linking structure. Continue to work on obtaining high quality back links that are relevant to your content.
  • Review the analytics to see what keywords are being used to find your site and if those entrance keywords match up with the type of information on your site.
