Earlier this week, BackType, a marketing intelligence company that serves as one of the data sources in HubSpot’s social media feed, announced that they had been acquired by Twitter. Shortly after the announcement, we received word that we would be losing access to the current BackType API on July 13.
What this means for HubSpot Customers
HubSpot’s Social Media tool used the BackType API to display blog comments in our customer’s social media feed. As a result of losing access to the Backtype API, blog-related items will no longer be included in the social media feed.
We are currently investigating other options for providing our customers access to blog-related content. If we can find a suitable replacement, we will put this data source back into our social media tool as soon as possible.
We are sorry that we can no longer provide this data to our customers and to our internal marketing team, who also found it very useful.
Nonetheless, we are excited to see our friends at BackType join the Twitter team, and we’re sure that they will continue to do outstanding work in the field of social media and marketing intelligence.
