onefortyToday, HubSpot acquired oneforty, a social media marketing company based in Cambridge, MA.

Why?
Like HubSpot, oneforty recognizes the importance of social media in the transformation of marketing. Originally founded as the first app store for Twitter, oneforty quickly evolved to offer a comprehensive directory of social media applications for business and marketing, and developed and launched the social media management tool SocialBase.

The team at oneforty shares HubSpot's focus on transforming marketing by focusing on "helping people buy" rather than "helping companies sell" and will bring to HubSpot their world-class strengths, talents, and resources in this area. Bottom line: Adding the oneforty team to HubSpot will help us develop more useful Inbound Marketing software for our customers, faster.

What is oneforty?
Laura Fitton (@pistachio), oneforty's founder and CEO, literally wrote the book on Twitter (Twitter for Dummies), and is a nationally recognized leader in the social media and tech startup community. You can read more about Laura and the oneforty story here and here.

How will this affect my HubSpot subscription?
There will be no pricing change for HubSpot customers as a result of this acquisition. In the coming weeks, we will be exploring ways to integrate the best of what oneforty has to offer into the HubSpot product, and these features will be rolled out to you like any new feature at HubSpot -- as just another part of the ongoing evolution and expansion of the HubSpot software.

New features are always announced here in the HubSpot Customer Blog, so be sure to subscribe if you want to learn about new HubSpot feature updates as soon as they are released.

I'm already a user of oneforty's SocialBase. Will I still be able to use this product?
SocialBase will be retired in 30 days, and existing oneforty customers will receive refunds for any subscriptions already paid for. We'll be integrating the best of what SocialBase offers as a social media marketing tool into HubSpot's similar Social Media Manager application, and strengthening the tools you already have for social media in HubSpot overall as a result of this acquisition. The oneforty directory and its listings will be reviewed and evaluated for inclusion in the HubSpot App Marketplace, already the largest app store for marketing in the world.

How can I learn more?
Read the official press release. Follow the buzz on Twitter by using and following the hashtag #Hub140. And tune in on Friday at 4:00 pm when oneforty founder Laura Fitton joins us as a special guest on the HubSpot weekly webcast, Marketing Update, where we'll welcome her to HubSpot and talk about what's next.
