Here’s how we did it.

Step 1: Conduct a Website Analysis for Your Website

We used HubSpot’s On-Page Search Engine Optimization Worksheet to document our current website page titles and descriptions, URLs, keywords, alt text, and more. The goal was to determine the exact amount of pages we had, and to make sure each of them was optimized to completion. The process helped us analyze the current traffic and leads each page was generating. At the same time, we were able to review the content on each page to make sure it matched our SEO strategy.

Step 2: Conduct Keyword Research for Your Website

The goal here was to identify primary and secondary keywords for each of our website pages, with an eye toward targeting those with high search volume and low competition. The tools we used during this process included HubSpot’s Keyword Grader and Google’s Keyword Tool.  After we found our primary and secondary keywords for each website page, we made sure to incorporate them into our long-tail page titles, meta descriptions, headings, page content, and image alt text.

Step 3: Blog Early, Blog Often

Our partner agency made it clear to us that frequent blogging had a direct impact on organic search results. They told us that HubSpot’s research shows that business blogging leads to 55% more website visitors. So we made sure to use HubSpot’s blog manager so that we could drive this increase in organic traffic. We now blog about two times per week, but have recently decided to increase this. We've been getting positive results from our blogging, so we'd like to generate even more great results by blogging even more.

Time Frame:  2-4 articles per week
