That stat will reverse by this time next year. At least 67% of companies will have mobile strategies...
On #5, there seems to be a mistake in the numbers. For Android and Palm, adding 'plan in next 12' and 'no plans', gives more than 100%.
It bit new data that number of companies are diversifying there marketing channel through mobiles and this seem to be quite interesting thanks to this sharing.
Wow, looks like my company is behind the trend. I know we need a mobile app but am stumped on what to create for the flooring industry. I don't see many carpet/flooring dealers have mobile apps but I KNOW I need to jump on this some how befor my competitors do.
Thanks for the informative post. :)
Hi Avo
Re your flooring app quandary - given that apps get shared when they are more fun and quirky - then perhaps you could create an app around how the floor sounds. Record different footsteps walking across the range of floors you have. Wooden floor (oak boards, laminate, tiles etc. How would your new floor sound...?? Best wishes Michelle
This really puts the mobile marketing trend into perspective! I knew it was growing but I had no idea that it would grow exponentially within the next year. The competition is really going to sky rocket in terms of creating innovative, interactive media for mobile users and I'm curious to see what will come of it!
YES! These stats agree with the ones we are seeing with our iZigg 90210 marketing distribution strategy. We've signed up thousands of iZigg Agency Owners, most of who are in traditional niche businesses in just 10 months. They want to use our platform for their business and also get in on the ground floor and participate in the the exponential financial growth the mobile industry is delivering. We are the only company using relationship marketing that allows individuals to capture that growth. We've also just signed a contract with Facebook that will allow us to create another income stream by combining social and mobile together. The ownership is just brilliant. Contact me if you'd like to find out how to get involved.
It would be helpful if you would differentiate between B2B and B2C in your survey numbers. My assumption is that the great majority is B2C. Most of my clients are professional service firms who, for the most part, have been slow to adopt mobile marketing as a part of their mix. I think there are ways to use mobile media to drive their clients to their websites, conference appearances, blogs.

#4 Very interesting! That means that companies prefer mobile website and I completely agree. I think that people are performing more and more searches through their mobile device and when encounter a site that is not optimized it your experience becomes frustrating.
There is this website http://build.mobi where you can build a website in just minutes and is very easy to manage. Many companies hesitate to have a mobile presence because they think is complicated. But many companies are making they life of businesses easy by creating platforms like this one where you can very easily have a mobile website.
JoAnn, The majority of people I speak to that should be using mobile are business owners of all stripes including service provides. I do understand where they are coming from. However, if used "softly" it can be an excellent information tool to maintain contact with last minute meeting changes or reminders or weekly/monthly tips and news.
I recently had a business coach start the service because he recognized when he was standing in front of a group whether 5 or 500, he could give them his keyword to 90210 to text in and while they were getting all of his contact information directly to their cells, he was getting all of their phone #'s in the dashboard of his iZigg system for future contact. It's "green" and saves tons of time inputting all that information. Anyone looking to attract new clients and maintain their existing base, with valuable information - a call to action - can entice them to opt in. It will allow them to build a data base for future contacts with valuable information now that they know what the client wants and likes.
Mobile is one-to-one real time marketing. Exactly what every business or service has been been pining for. But until mass mobile access, it's never been available. Of course, the business/service owner has to be respectful of that "touch" and not abuse it by doing it too often. Because unlike email and phone calling, the customer has the power to simply hit S-T-O-P in the next message which automatically pulls their number out of that data base. It's an absolute win-win.
Note to Yhosibell. iZigg's platform has a built-in mobile web page with every plan at no additional cost. It can include video, photos and more.
Marketers are still trying to get their head around exactly how mobile marketing fits for what they are trying to achieve, much like social media. Not surprised that coupons and location based marketing is leading the pack for tactics because it's where the value is most evident.
