This data further reinforces the need for businesses to ensure that their website and its key functions are accessible from smartphones as this trend will continue and even accelerate. A good example is to make sure that homepage is not 100% flash based, else say goodbye to iPhone/iPad users. This also create some great mobile marketing opportunities for businesses to engage in location based advertising. Thanks for sharing.

Good information . I work for McGladrey and there's a white paper on US online retail on the website ( http://bit.ly/HJbEFy ), with information on E commerce, defining its scope within the retail industry

Really interesting article. In just a short space of 3 months you can get so much difference in traffic from mobile.
With more people browsing on tablets and phones on the go this is only set to increase!

I hate having to do anything web-based on my smartphone. It's a combination of things taking forever to load, and having to scroll and zoom absurd amounts to find things. I suppose it's a good argument for making sure that your (general use) site is mobile friendly.

Commerce, especially in industries like retail and hospitality, is going to be the first thing that has to come to terms with mobile technology. Consumers have made internet search a big part of their purchasing process now and mobile devices allow them to research products and compare prices while they are making a purchase. Mobile internet use is the Yellow Pages of the 21st Century and small businesses should be making themselves mobile friendly right now, rather than allowing their competition to get ahead of them in this area.

This infographic is great! The number of people using their phones for e-commerce is much more than I would have thought. I'm sure this will only grow and makes it more imperative that companies have a solid working mobile app.
