Foursquare: 3400% Growth In 2010 [Infographic]

One of the hottest social media applications in 2010 was location-based social network Foursquare. The service that lets users check in to real-world locations recently released some stats about its 2010 growth.

Foursquare is clearly making a push to start off 2011 with a bang, and the company recently announced its program for businesses. In the past, we have reported how local businesses can use Foursquare to their marketing advantage.

While 6 million users may seem like a lot, it is still far fewer than social media powers like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. It remains to be seen if Foursquare's growth will continue or if location will simply become a feature of existing social media applications. For marketers interested in location-based marketing, the infographic below shares some very interesting information.

This growth really adds new dimension to the social media growth. It shows that users are really looking out for new ways, apart from Facebook and LinkedIn, to connect with new people and geographies. Let this be growing...

I think most of them are relevant especially the part where we see people spending most. It's like recession is not affecting most of them, they eat out and watch in movie theaters. Nonetheless it makes money move around the country.
