If you’re wondering, “Why make a coming soon page?” think of the last time you went to a dinner party. The host probably served appetizers, which, if you think about it, is a pretty bizarre concept. If you know dinner is coming soon—why do you need mini-meals before the big one?

You probably know where I’m going with this: A coming soon page, like a good hors d'oeuvre, whets the appetite before the main course (your completed website). Your customers are hungry for your product; give them a little taste.

If you need some web design inspiration, I’ve curated a list of the best coming soon page examples I found after combing through the internet, including Wayback Machine archives and design site portfolios. Feast your eyes on these stunners.

Unlike an under-construction page, a coming soon page specifically teases an upcoming product, service, or event, not merely a website redesign.

Why You Need a Coming Soon Page

Look, you’re busy—you’ve got a business to launch! But here’s why you shouldn’t neglect the humble coming soon page:

    • Start ranking on Google. You may have already registered your domain (great!), but without a website on the domain, it won’t get indexed by Google and won’t show up if someone searches for it.

By putting up a coming soon page, you can start ranking for keywords earlier.
    • Build excitement for your product. While your team may be busy building your product, don’t neglect to build excitement for it in the meantime. A coming soon page gives just a few details to help your audience anticipate your product’s release.
    • Improve the user experience. Without a coming soon page, if someone tries to type your domain name into their browser, they’ll get an error or a generic domain registrar landing page—neither are great experiences.

Here’s what happens if you visit one of the many domains I’ve registered but never built websites for:

    • Generate leads before the launch. Lastly, your coming soon page collects email addresses from prospective customers. This builds your marketing list so you can send a product launch email when the time comes.

Elements of a Strong Coming Soon Landing Page

A coming soon page doesn’t have to be complex. Here are five elements that can make yours powerful:

    • Clear, concise description of your product so visitors know what’s coming
    • Consistent branding, like a logo and brand colors, to solidify your brand identity early
    • Expected launch date so visitors know when the product will be ready
    • Countdown timer to build anticipation
    • Email capture form to collect email addresses from interested visitors

Next, let’s examine 29 coming soon page examples that nail these elements (and then some).

    Best Coming Soon Page Examples

    1. Pool

Coming soon page from the Pool mobile app

The Pool mobile app makes a splash with its coming soon page. This long-scrolling one-pager effectively communicates what the app will do with just a few words and bright images.

Plus, how cool is this waitlist signup confirmation page? I could feel the excitement when the confetti burst forth. I also like how the site uses a ranking and invite link to inspire me to tell my friends.

    2. Chill Subs

Coming soon page from Chill Subs with the headline “A submissions manager that won’t suck (probably)”

I found this example thanks to fellow writer, Zen Ren, who posted on the social platform X calling this design, “the best ‘coming soon’ page I've ever seen.” And I can see why.

Chill Subs aces good web design and witty copywriting with its coming soon page for its product, a submissions manager for writers.

On the left, it lets you “adjust our confidence level.” The default is “reasonable,” which bears the headline, “A submissions manager that won’t suck (probably),” with a moderately happy face.

But choose “self-conscious,” and the headline becomes “We hope you like it,” along with a sheepish face. Clever.

    3. Genius

Coming soon landing page from Genius

This archived coming soon page for Genius mesmerized me, as it gave me a glimpse into how the AI design tool would work. I got to watch the landing page build the “Join Waitlist” button, which then became clickable.

    4. They Got Acquired

Coming soon landing page from They Got Acquired

This coming soon page garnered over 1,000 email subscribers before the official site went live. It linked to the founder’s personal website so prospects could learn more before launch. It was super minimal (fewer than 100 words) so visitors wouldn’t get overwhelmed.

The primary focus was the email field, ensuring lead generation remained the top priority.

    5. Austin Theme

Coming soon page created using the Austin theme from HubSpot

With no coding skills at all, I created this coming soon page in minutes using the Austin theme from HubSpot. To customize it, I dragged and dropped an email subscription call-to-action section and a countdown module. Then, I created a form for capturing email addresses.

    6. Taylor Swift

Coming soon page from the Taylor Swift website

To promote the first single on her upcoming album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” Taylor Swift posted this cryptic coming soon page.

When you’ve got worldwide brand recognition like T. Swift, this type of landing page creates buzz. People online were speculating about what the page might be counting down to, which is a brilliant display of word-of-mouth marketing.

Even if your brand isn’t as big as the pop megastar’s, you can still take a page out of her playbook and keep your coming soon page mysterious to increase intrigue. Notice she still includes some hints and a countdown timer.

All it takes is a dedicated fanbase, no matter how small, to pull this one off.

      7. Productboard

Coming soon landing page from Productboard

Productboard put its best foot forward with this coming soon landing page. It thoroughly described the benefits of its upcoming products, and it let visitors request a beta invite.

      8. Sparrow

Coming soon page from the Sparrow mobile app

We’ve seen countdown timers on the list already, but the Sparrow iPhone app took a unique approach: a completion bar. This simple feature helped build anticipation for the release and kept visitors updated on progress.

      9. OpenAI

      Coming soon page from OpenAI

By now, we’re all familiar with ChatGPT’s UI. But before it rose to fame, this is what one of OpenAI’s coming soon pages looked like.

Though the full product wasn’t ready, this OpenAI landing page let visitors interact with one feature: AI image generation. The copywriting was forward-looking, inspiring readers to think about the possibilities. And the email submission form captured interested leads before launch.

      10. Sprocket Rocket Theme

Coming soon page Sprocket Rocket theme

Here’s a premade coming soon page template that gets the job done. I took HubSpot’s Sprocket Rocket theme and customized the text and the form. It’s a clean and minimal theme that is really easy to modify thanks to its drag-and-drop capabilities.

      11. Focus Theme

Coming soon page template called Focus theme

Build excitement with a countdown timer on your coming soon page. You can get this premade template for free.

      12. Brightlane Theme

Coming soon page template called Brightlane theme

If you want bigger and bolder, Brightlane’s coming soon page template delivers. With a full-screen background image, countdown timer, and bold headline, it’s eye-catching and buzz-building.

      13. Imbue Theme

Coming soon page template called Imbue theme

This coming soon landing page is perfect if you’re looking for something elegant. The Imbue theme features soft colors, fade-in effects, a simple “days to launch” countdown, and a unique half-screen, vertical featured image.

And if you want to add more motion, this theme supports a YouTube video background in the featured image area.

      15. Virink

      Coming soon page from Virink

Futuristic and bold, this coming soon page from AI art brand Virink strikes all the right poses. The “Request Invitation” button makes it feel like Virink might invite you to an exclusive event.

      16. LoanMD

Coming soon page template from LoanMD

Admittedly, most coming soon pages are simple. LoanMD adds some oomph. When I hovered my cursor over the email capture form, the animation changed, which added some interactivity and visual interest that I really liked.

Because there aren’t many words on the page, the tagline does the heavy lifting: “Lending made simple for doctors, by doctors.”

      17. Atwww

      Coming soon page from Atwww

Atwww is a design agency, so it's no surprise that its coming soon page was superb. The bright and retro one-pager had a scrolling banner on the bottom that made it memorable. The waitlist signup made it effective.

      18. Kihealth

      Coming soon page from Kihealth

Kihealth pairs powerful copy (“the dawn of a new era in health”) with stunning visuals (the animated sunrise graphic on the right) to convey its benefits and branding.

      19. Pillowtalk

      Coming soon page from Pillowtalk

Whimsical and serene, Pillowtalk’s coming soon page reflects the benefits of its journaling app: It helps you unwind and reflect.

I delighted in being able to create ripples on the full-screen header image by clicking it with my mouse. Small design elements like that can make a lasting impression on a website visitor.

      20. Wimp Decaf

Coming soon page from Wimp Decaf

Wimp Decaf did a wonderful job using motion tastefully. Its header had scrolling text that made the webpage really pop. Coupled with witty copy and a bright orange “Join the Waitlist” button, it’s a standout coming soon page example.

      21. Vivian

      Coming soon page from Vivian

Vivian’s coming soon page plays with motion, with a slide-up transition on text and images, as well as animated graphics.

It also has two “Join Waitlist” CTAs: One at the top that you see immediately and one at the bottom that you find when you scroll all the way down, which could help boost conversions.

      22. Furry Nomad

Coming soon page from Furry Nomad

Furry Nomad's coming soon page took a unique approach to lead gen. When visitors clicked “Get early access,” they landed on a Typeform that asked questions such as their company size and their country of residence.

So instead of just collecting leads—Furry Nomad qualified them, too, all before launch. On top of that, it promised visitors a 50% off promo code if they submitted the form, which encouraged more signups.

      23. Dala

coming soon page example from DalaImage Source

Of all the coming soon page examples on this list, Dala’s is by far the most ornate. I had way too much fun scrolling through it and playing with its interactive elements.

With bright graphics against a dark background, intricate animations, and parallax scrolling, there is a lot going on—but it comes together nicely. All the hype on the landing page makes you want to run to request access!

      24. Webflow

      Coming soon page from Webflow

Webflow’s pre-launch landing page from 2013 is a great example of showing and telling.

It featured a split screen that succinctly conveyed the benefit of its upcoming platform. On the right was a tagline that read, “Create powerful websites without writing any code.” On the left was a visual representation of that.

      25. Playspace

      Coming soon page from Playspace

Playspace described its product in just a few lines, plus added a waitlist button to collect email addresses. Visitors could scroll down to see more information and images about the product before being prompted again to join the waitlist.

      26. Alfread

      Coming soon page from Alfread

The Alfread app’s pre-launch landing page prodded at users’ pain point (saving articles but never actually reading them) to highlight a solution. Design-wise, its use of ample white space and large fonts minimized overwhelm and made it aesthetically pleasing.

      27. Bodybox

      Coming soon page from Bodybox

Bodybox combined an eye-catching image, clear copy, and an incentive (10% off) to build excitement and signups pre-launch. Visitors could scroll down for more details about the subscription boxes, including what would be inside.

      28. Daylight

      Coming soon page from Daylight

For the launch of its blue-light-free computers, Daylight put up this stunning coming soon page. The company also had the great idea of providing an option for preorders—a brilliant way to generate revenue before your product is even ready.

      29. Canva

      Coming soon page from Canva

Before Canva became a robust design platform with tools to create and edit graphics, it was just a humble one-pager offering the option to reserve a username.

For visitors, the opportunity to “reserve” a username made it feel exclusive and desirable. And for Canva, it ensured the company grew its email list.

How to Create a Coming Soon Page

The good news is that setting up a coming soon page is way easier than building your entire website. And with a landing page builder tool, it’s even easier. Just choose a premade template and then drag and drop to customize it.

Here’s a video on how you can create a coming soon landing page for free:

If you need even more inspo before you build, we also have a list of fantastic landing page examples.

The most important lesson I hope you take away from this post is that coming soon pages do not have to be complicated.

The second most important lesson? Don’t throw a dinner party without appetizers.
